Louvre: More than just Mona
We meet outside the Louvre - there are some incredible buildings and passageways not to be missed in the vicinity. We'll meet with a coffee and a croissant, and introduce ourselves to the few other members of our group. Caffeinated and ready to go, we'll head over to the most visited museum in the world, via impressive 18th century arcades.
The Louvre is vast. Made up of 706 rooms with 35,000 objects on display and 30,000 visitors a day. Incredible artworks, historical paintings, world famous sculptures - but sometimes it’s hard to look at anything but the throngs of people.
Jostled about in a crowd of hundreds, we easily miss the artworks that we’re supposed to be looking at. At Encyclopedia of Paris, we do everything we can to miss the crowds, because we’re not in search of selfies, but of an aesthetic experience.

The Louvre is more than just Mona.
There are treasures beyond imagination - gilded ceilings and controversial paintings, Crown Jewels and decorated goblets, tapestries and death masks, boats full of demons and women twiddling each others nipples.
We must see Mona, but we don’t stop there. The Louvre is full of stories, and we talk architecture, megalomania, salacious gossip, financial gain and back-alley murder. We’re looking for an aesthetic experience, and the Louvre can provide, if you’re willing to look deeper and go beyond the well-beaten path.
We have a couple of tricks up our sleeves so that we can see more.
In smaller groups, we’re more agile, so we take no more than six people.
We go early, or late. No self-respecting Parisian goes to the Louvre at peak hours.
We know the museum inside out. The labyrinth of rooms and the constant rotation of big group tours means we know where to be and when to miss the crowds, without missing the icons.
We’re open to discovering more. We’re curious and open minded in our approach, willing to learn and discover more. While the Louvre is huge, we’re always up for walking a bit further to see something magnificent, and we want to share that with you.

Our tours are about connection to a place, but also to our fellow travellers. All are welcome on our tours.
We keep our groups small, limited to 7 people, so that we don’t feel like tourists, but a group of fellow travellers.
Our tours run rain or shine! But be aware that traffic is worse in bad weather. We strongly encourage you to use the metro and other public transportation!
We can provide refunds up until 24 hours out from the tour.
